Owasso formally became a town in 1906 and was chartered as a city in 1972. Owasso remained a small town until after the end of World War II when the developing aircraft industry attracted people to Owasso due to its location just north of the Tulsa Airport. Owasso currently has a population of around 28,000 and offers a small town atmosphere with easy access to all of the ammenities of the city. The Owasso Public School currently consists of 8 elementary schools, 6, 7 & 8 grade centers, mid high school and the high school.
